| Reward Offered! In an effort to curb the ever increasing occurrences of copper theft and general vandalism to your distribution system, Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative is offering a $1,000 reward for tips and information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects for these actions. Increased drug activity combined with increases in the value of metal has spawned a great number of copper thefts in the past few months. Not only does this cost you, the member, money to replace the material; it is wasting labor costs that could otherwise be applied to maintenance and construction in a positive manner on your distribution system. Additionally because the voltage on our system can range from 120 to 138,000 volts, this is an extremely dangerous activity. Assuming that the suspected thieves have not been properly trained in safety techniques, similar to those in which your employees are trained, we believe it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed in these illegal activities. It is estimated that each occurrence being described costs your coop $500 to $1,500 in damages. We believe that by offering this reward that we can add more than thirty thousand additional pairs of eyes to watch our neighborhoods and keep them safe. Information on suspicious activity may be reported 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to 903.482.7100. One of your friendly Member Service Representatives will record all information which will be kept in strictest confidence and anonymity. Thank you for helping us continue to provide the very best possible service at the least possible cost.
