12:11 P.M. - As of Noon today June 9, 2025 we have restored power to more than 20,000 and are continuing to work until all members are taken care of. At this time we have replaced 10 poles and will continue to find poles that will more than likely need to be replaced. There are reports of winds of about 76mph to 85mph wind speeds that impacted multiple parts of our service territory. There have also been reports of more than 100 mph winds in the Sherman and Luella area which we believe based off reports was tornadic as that part of our line is completely gone and will have to be rebuilt from the ground up. We also know that this storm has been covered nationwide as well as parts of the UK for the damange it has done Statewide. Our crews will continue to work until all members are restored and taken care of. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to get all members restored.

3:24 A.M. - Our crews and contract crews are working endlessly against the aftermath of the storms. Our team will continue to work and be here to field your calls as needed. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we continue towards full restoration.

11:14 P.M. - From our General Manager, David McGinnis "Crews have been assigned to each area affected by this evening’s severe thunderstorms.  The storms affected much of our service area from the Red River through Grayson County and into southern Collin County.  This resulted in power outages to over 13,000 members.  We have restored service to about 4,000 members, and we plan to work until service is restored to everyone.  In addition to our crews, we have additional contract crews assigned to help.  We are getting reports of trees, water and other debris causing issues traveling some of the roads.  Restoration efforts will be as quickly as possible without jeopardizing safety.  We will provide updates as pertinent information is received, and we thank you for your patience and understanding."

10:43 P.M. - We have more than 12,000 members who are without power, and still have some storms moving through our southern portion of the service territory. With the warnings have been lifted, we have our all available linemen and crews working across our entire service territory. All outages are weather related from the storms and our team will work as safely and quickly as possible. We will be here until all members are taken care of.

9:10 P.M. - Good Evening GCEC Members! We are tracking the weather as it moves into our service territory and have taken all precautions and preparations possible given the forecast.
