June 11, 2025 - South Collin County outage

5:05 A.M. - Our crews have found the cause of the outage; a snake on a voltage regulator in the substation. All power should be restored.

4:26 A.M. - We are aware of a large outage impacting some of our members in Southern Collin County. We have multiple members of our Operations teams and Crews dispatched to evaluate the outage and begin work towards restoration. We will update as we have more information.

June 8th, 2025 Storm Updates

12:11 P.M. - As of Noon today June 9, 2025 we have restored power to more than 20,000 and are continuing to work until all members are taken care of. At this time we have replaced 10 poles and will continue to find poles that will more than likely need to be replaced. There are reports of winds of about 76mph to 85mph wind speeds that impacted multiple parts of our service territory. There have also been reports of more than 100 mph winds in the Sherman and Luella area which we believe based off reports was tornadic as that part of our line is completely gone and will have to be rebuilt from the ground up. We also know that this storm has been covered nationwide as well as parts of the UK for the damange it has done Statewide. Our crews will continue to work until all members are restored and taken care of. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to get all members restored.

3:24 A.M. - Our crews and contract crews are working endlessly against the aftermath of the storms. Our team will continue to work and be here to field your calls as needed. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we continue towards full restoration.

11:14 P.M. - From our General Manager, David McGinnis "Crews have been assigned to each area affected by this evening’s severe thunderstorms.  The storms affected much of our service area from the Red River through Grayson County and into southern Collin County.  This resulted in power outages to over 13,000 members.  We have restored service to about 4,000 members, and we plan to work until service is restored to everyone.  In addition to our crews, we have additional contract crews assigned to help.  We are getting reports of trees, water and other debris causing issues traveling some of the roads.  Restoration efforts will be as quickly as possible without jeopardizing safety.  We will provide updates as pertinent information is received, and we thank you for your patience and understanding."

10:43 P.M. - We have more than 12,000 members who are without power, and still have some storms moving through our southern portion of the service territory. With the warnings have been lifted, we have our all available linemen and crews working across our entire service territory. All outages are weather related from the storms and our team will work as safely and quickly as possible. We will be here until all members are taken care of.

9:10 P.M. - Good Evening GCEC Members! We are tracking the weather as it moves into our service territory and have taken all precautions and preparations possible given the forecast. We have called in all of our GCEC crews, we have our normal contract crews who work on our system often as well as additional aid from the same company who have came in from Louisiana. We are here for you and will continue to be until all members are taken care of.

January 15, 2024 - ***FROM ERCOT*** - TXANS Update—Jan. 15, 2024: ERCOT has issued a Conservation Appeal for Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 6 – 9 a.m. CT. With the winter storm encompassing the entire state and temperatures forecasted to be colder this evening and into tomorrow morning, ERCOT is asking Texans to conserve electricity use, if safe to do so. January 15, 2024 - We have continued to monitor Winter Storm Heather and have both inside and outside operation teams here to serve you as the need arises. Snow has covered some roads in the service area, please stay safe and call us as needed - 903-482-7100

Over the weekend we experienced several outages that occurred due to the nature of the elements. All outages were dispatched quickly and restored as quickly and as safely as possible. We appreciate your understanding.

Trinity Falls outage 12/24/2023

The large outage impacting the Trinity Falls subdivision was a result of a fallen tree on the line. We have restored majority of the 2,800 members and are working to restore power to the rest. We thank you for your patience and wish you a Merry Christmas!

McKinney East Power Outage

6:20 p.m. - All power should be restored.

5:40 p.m. - We are working with Oncor and have restored power to parts of McKinney east and are working to restore the rest as quickly and safely as possible. Underground equipment faulted and burnt up. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

4:30 p.m. - We are aware of the outage impacting our members in the McKinney East Service Area. This outage is a result from the metering point that we share with Oncor and is out on their side. We have our crews and operations team on site to investigate the issues causing the outage. We will update as we learn more.

10/30/23 - CELINA / PROSPER AREA OUTAGE

2:32 P.M. - All power should be restored.

1:50 P.M. - The outage in the Celina / Prosper area is due to a car accident in the area. We have our Operations Team and Crews in the area working to restore power.

Grayson-Collin Electric Co-op Will Be Temporarily Closed On Thursday, October 5th, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the untimely passing of a beloved coworker and dear friend.  In honor and memory of Jake Waldrip and to allow our Co-op family the opportunity to pay their respects, Grayson-Collin Electric Co-op will be temporarily closed on Thursday, October 5th, 2023. We appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult time.  We have Dispatchers ready to handle any outages that may occur. 9/13/23 POWER OUTAGE UPDATE

OUTAGE UPDATE 

9:02 p.m. All power should be restored. We thank you all for your understanding.

8:02 p.m. We are aware of the outage affecting the Anna, Melissa and Stoney Point Areas. At this time the only information we have internally is that there is an issue with the the Transmission line that feeds the substation. We will update when we know more information. We have our operations team in the area, our dispatch team and member service representatives here to take your call. We understand the phone lines are busy due to the high influx of calls.

TXANS Update—September 7, 2023

ERCOT has issued a Conservation Appeal for today, Sept. 7, from 5 – 9 p.m. CT. Operating reserves are expected to be low this afternoon due to continued high temperatures, high demand, low wind, and declining solar power generation into the afternoon and evening hours. The Electricity Reliability Council of Texas has terminated EEA 1, an Advisory remains in effect
